Artwork Description:
Inspired by the legendary Tower of Babel and the ancient ziggurat Etemenanki, this monumental installation explores the human desire to reach upward—toward connection, understanding, and transcendence. Built from 36,570 cups, the sculpture forms a tiered circular structure that evokes both architectural grandeur and communal intimacy.

Each cup represents an individual voice, a memory, a story. Together, they form a unified whole—an evolving landscape of language, culture, and shared aspiration. The stepped formation echoes the ancient dream of bridging heaven and earth, while the use of everyday materials invites reflection on the sacred within the ordinary.

As natural light and spotlights move across the surface, the cups shimmer with subtle shifts—suggesting the passage of time, emotional resonance, and the interplay between city and nature visible through the gallery’s window. This is not merely a structure, but a space for dialogue—an invitation to cross boundaries of language and identity.

Etemenanki continues to inspire contemporary artists as a symbol of communication, ambition, and the complexity of human connection. This installation reimagines its form and philosophy through modern materials, transforming myth into a living, tactile experience.
