Description:
9/11: Towers of Remembrance is a deeply moving tribute to the lives tragically lost on September 11, 2001. Composed entirely of 1,223 paper cups, the two towering structures evoke the awe-inspiring achievements and architectural beauty of human civilization, embodied by the iconic Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Yet in their very construction—from such humble, fragile materials—they also reflect the vulnerability of even our greatest creations, capable of collapsing in an instant, just as the towers did on that fateful day.

The use of disposable paper cups carries a powerful dual meaning. While they unite to form a striking and delicate monument, their ubiquity also highlights the vast environmental burden of single-use waste, with millions discarded globally each day. This material choice subtly underscores the individuality of each life lost—unique, irreplaceable, and yet part of a shared moment of tragedy.

At the conclusion of the exhibition, the towers will be respectfully dismantled in a symbolic performance. This act transforms the once-beautiful forms into scattered debris, offering a stark and poignant reminder of impermanence, and echoing the devastating loss caused by the 9/11 attacks.

Through this work, I aim to honor the memory of every individual who perished, inviting viewers to reflect on both the extraordinary resilience and profound fragility of humanity. Towers of Remembrance is an invitation to pause, contemplate, and pay tribute—not only to those we lost, but to the broader impact of our actions on the world we share.
