Balloon Loop moves beyond similarity to Calder by developing a sculptural language rooted in balloon-twisting. Inflated forms are reduced to a thick, continuous tubular line that preserves the logic of loops, twists, and knots while removing surface and volume. The work remains between recognition and abstraction.
Its meaning shifts as the viewer moves. From one position, the animal becomes legible; from another, it dissolves into crossings, gaps, and framed space. This threshold of recognizability is central to the work. Rather than moving physically, Balloon Loop activates perception and makes the viewer’s position part of the sculpture.
