Scale, Line Weight, and Fabrication
The current digital model of Balloon Dog uses a tubular diameter of approximately 160 mm. In the Balloon Loop series, the thickness of the line is closely connected to the overall scale and recognizability of each animal. As the sculpture becomes larger or smaller, the pipe diameter must change proportionally to preserve the visual character of the form.
The project will therefore begin by identifying suitable standard industrial aluminum pipe sizes and the bend radii that can be produced with existing fabrication equipment. After the pipe diameter is selected, the overall dimensions and geometry of Balloon Dog will be adjusted accordingly. The final CAD model will then be reconstructed for structural review, bend planning, sectioning, welding, and future fabrication.
